ACHALA FORT :ONE    OF 350 FORTS IN           MAHARASHTRA.

      The fort Achala is one of the favourite place for trekking in Nashik . It was the Fort to guard the Ahivant Fort. Its owner is now Indian Government.

Geography And Location

       It is an important Fort in Nashik district at Jamela. It is a hill Fort. It is westernmost Fort in satmala hill range and is located at 55 km from Nashik.



     Is adjoining to  Ahivant and Mohandar are very close. Its height is approximately 4024 ft. It was built by stone. The base village of the fort is Dagad Pimpri which is 13 km from vani. 



     The trekking path starts from the hillock north of the village. The left path goes to Achala and right path goes to ahivant Fort. Its other route is from
Daregaon . It had ample water on it. It's road is very safe and wide . It had climb off maximum 1 hours. It is occupied on the large flat plateau. There is a large pond in a middle part of fort.


History

       In 1636 Ford was under the control of Adilshah. Mughal emperor Shah Jahan sent his one of general shaista Khan and entrusted to win all forts in Nashik region. 
Alvardikhan( Shaista Khan Cavalier) won the Fort. 
     

     But in 1670, Shivaji Maharaj won the Fort.The Mughal emperor Aurangzeb sent his chief-tain Mahabat Khan to win the fort. Mahabat Khan and diler Khan open battlefront from either side of the fort . The attack was so fierce that the fort was surrender to Mughal. In 1818 , the fort was captured by British Colnel Brother.

Present Condition

     

     Present condition is ruined now. It is 24 hour open for tourist .The villages from the local village make night stay and food arrangement at reasonable cost.

     
   But night stay on fort cannot be made due to lack of potable water on food. Else ,fort had a very beautiful nature and atmosphere
